We’re Quintessentially Cornish
6th March 2017
With St. Piran’s Day just around the corner, there’s no better time to take a minute to thank our Cornish friends and suppliers.
It’s no secret that Cornish is famous for its incredibly fresh (and equally tasty) food and beverage, and wherever possible we make it our mission to source our ingredients locally.
Here are just a handful of our local suppliers:
The McFadden family are proud farmers and have been farming their own 42 acres of land since the family business was established in the 1800’s. Located less than 5 less than miles away in St. Just, they are one of only a handful of Cornish Butchers and Bakers that have been family run for over 100 years.
Stevenson’s of Newlyn:
Based under 10 miles away in Newlyn, Stevensons supply us with delicious freshly caught fish. A famous name in fishing industry, Stevenson know a thing or two about fish, and currently posses the largest privately-owned fleet in Britain.
St. Austell Brewery:
Founded in 1851 by Cornishman, Walter Hicks, to this very day St Austell Brewery remains 100% independent and family owned. With HQ approximately 50 miles north of Land’s End, the brewery in St Austell produces many of the region’s most popular beers including Tribute and Korev.
Cornish Crab Company:
Again based in famous fishing village of Newlyn, the Cornish Crab Company supplies us with some of the most mouth-watering crab. A family owned and run business, the Cornish Crab Company have fished from Newlyn for a combined period of over 50 years, working fishing ground off of the coast of Land’s End, Pendeen, Zennor, Isles of Scilly and the Longships lighthouse.
Bosavern Community Farm:
Situated near St Just, this non-profit organisation provide us with some of the finest and freshest fruit and vegetables, straight out of the ground and in to the First & Last kitchen.
It’s safe to say there’s nothing quite like Cornish food and drink – so, to our local suppliers – we salute you!
